Research is a top priority at our institute. We use state-of-the-art methods to investigate the causes of genetic disorders. Using a broad spectrum of molecular genetic, molecular biological, cellular, and protein biochemical methods, as well as various model organisms such as fruit flies, zebrafish, and mice, we seek to understand and decipher the functions and signaling pathways of the proteins involved. Our long-term goal is to develop therapies.
Particular areas of focus include neuromuscular disorders, muscular disorders, skeletal disorders, kidney diseases, and unexplained syndromes.
Our research is primarily supported by external funding from the DFG, the EU, and the ZMMK.
