Human genetics is the science of genetically determined human variability. It is an interdisciplinary subject with a bridging function between medicine and biology and deals with the genetic basis of diseases. This has consequences for therapy, prognosis and prevention in many clinical disciplines. The Institute represents the field of human genetics in patient care, research and teaching.
