Molecular Genetic Diagnostics
In cooperation with the Human Genetics Department in the Medical Health Center at the University Hospital Cologne the Institute of Human Genetics offers a wide variety of latest genetic test methods to address a range of diagnostic issues. Methods include next-generation sequencing (NGS) on an Illumina platform, conventional Sanger sequencing, a high resolution array CGH platform and MLPA and real-time PCR analyses.

Many genetic diseases for which we offer molecular genetic analyses are also the subject of research at the Institute. We also often offer consultation hours for specific diseases at the Institute or within a special outpatient center at the University of Cologne.
The Institute’s Diagnostic Laboratory participates in the quality assurance measures of the German Society for Human Genetics (Berufsverband Deutscher Humangenetiker e.V., BVDH) and the European Molecular Genetics Quality Network (EMQN). It is accredited by DAkkS under DIN EN 15189.
