As an interdisciplinary science, human genetics combines medical diagnostics, therapy and prevention of hereditary diseases with molecular biological methodology and research on the orthology and pathology of human inheritance. The Institute of Human Genetics is involved in a variety of ways in teaching students in biology and biochemistry:

The genetic fundamentals of heredity, the structure and function of the human genome in relation to their application in clinical genetics and current scientific issues are taught systematically.
